Armor Showcase Launches Cleveland’s FIRST Live Chinese Armor Experience for 2026!

Cleveland, OH – November 30, 2025 – Prepare for a groundbreaking cultural spectacle! Armor Showcase debuts Cleveland’s FIRST live, wearable Tang and Ming dynasty armor showcase, spearheaded by Johnny K. Wu, an award-winning filmmaker, co-founder of the Cleveland Asian Festival, and a respected community leader recognized in Cleveland Magazine’s CLE 500 (2025) and numerous hall of fame inductions including the Cleveland International Hall of Fame.

Launched in Cleveland’s thriving AsiaTown—home to a growing AAPI population (2.5% citywide, 3.5% in Cuyahoga County, with significant growth in recent years)—this showcase celebrates the fastest-growing demographic while bridging cultures in a diverse city. It promotes unity, supports AAPI business owners, and raises visibility for underrepresented Chinese heritage amid Filipino, Indian, and Vietnamese communities, strengthening community pride and cross-cultural exchange.

Handmade armor replicas come alive through performers who greet guests, pose for photos and videos, and share the history behind every lamellar plate and symbolic futun motif. Sword-cutting demonstrations slice through tatami mats and safe props, while interactive sparring sessions teach basic Tang and Ming combat stances, creating immersive cultural experiences.

Tang and Ming armors represent divine protection, warding off evil and inviting fortune and prosperity. Their red and gold imperial designs complement Lunar New Year lion dances to double the auspicious luck. This showcase is perfect for festivals, museums, conventions, schools, parades, and corporate events, promoting engagement and goodwill.
